The 2016 Presidential primary’s are on fire. Donald Trump might be controversial, but the media loves him. The GOP race has been fascinating to watch so far. On the Democrats side it appears that Hillary will handily defeat Bernie Saunders (a devout Socialist). Will Trump take the nomination? Will Cruz out flank him? Will Hillary be indicted by a Grand Jury? As of today…we don’t know.
Christians are like all other groups, there are God fearing believers of both sides! The big question is this, does it really matter who wins?
Romans 13:1-7 (ESV)
13 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
Changing a Nation
As Christians, we should prayerfully seek God as to who we should vote for. Looking at the “Core Values” of the candidate and where they stand on critical issues such as abortion, disposition of Israel, Gay marriage and all other attacks on Christian family values should direct us on who we support. I have observed that most people vote based on their own interests and not Gods interest. The good news is that God is in control and no matter who gets elected (doesn’t excuse us from voting).
The real change in a nation comes when His people become “Unstoppable”. We we become unstoppable christians we impact the others for Christ. When the heart is transformed, the family is transformed. When the family is transformed, the city is transformed. Transformed cities change nations and transformed nations change the WORLD.
It all begins with you and me! Let’s commit to changing the World by becoming the “Unstoppable Christians” we are called to be.
